I’m a 26 year old guy with a funny last name, facial hair that is rapidly growing out of control, and quite possibly the most hobbit-like structure you could ever hope to see outside of a Peter Jackson film. I grew up in Cambridge, in the Waikato region of New Zealand, I hold a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, and I’m also completing postgraduate study in Renewable Energy and Energy Systems through Murdoch University in Perth (via distance learning). I have two years of experience in engineering and project management in the energy efficiency field, and a clear desire to find a role which has the dual benefit of promoting reduced energy use and sustainable development, whilst increasing the spread of clean and renewable energy.
I’m currently in the middle of a trip through India, Nepal and hopefully Southeast Asia (more on the specific reasons why in my ‘introductions’ post), and I’ve made the call to get this going to both engage others in some of my views and ideas about travel, energy and everything in between, as well as promote the various NGOs that I’ve been volunteering with along the way – who could really use a helping hand from all my smart and successful friends around the world who actually have regular paychecks and a bit of disposable income.
Enough for now – enjoy the blog!
ps. if you’re genuinely interested in something I write about, let’s chat about it! I encourage anyone and everyone to send me mail (contactable on firstname.lastname@example.org) and discuss anything I post. I’m open to new ways of looking at things, and am more than willing to take a fresh look at a concept, an opinion or an idea.
